As all sports fans are aware, the last week of the college football regular season is one of the best in all of sports. It's rivalry week. Some of the best games of the year occur. The Iron Bowl. Notre Dame vs USC (Southern California not South Carolina you stupid fucks). Ole Miss vs Miss State. The Apple Cup. And of course, the best of all, The Game. Michigan vs Ohio State.
As the people know, I am a very big Ohio State fan. Not a band wagon BTW I was born in Akron, Ohio so fuck off. (Same hospital as LeBron James, NBD) As an Ohio State fan I have been very privileged in this rivalry. Winning 17 of these games while losing just 4. Ohio State should have won 18 but Michigan was too pussy to field a team due to the pandemic and decided to cancel the game in 2020. Ohio State had won 8 (9) in a row from 2012 to 2020. I am very grateful for that stretch of time. Every November I knew I would get to watch a game where we embarrassed Michigan on live TV.
Then Ryan Day happened.
This rat-faced POS is Ryan Day. He took over as Ohio State's full time head coach in 2019. The team he put on the field last week looked like the least motivated OSU team I've seen, no drive to win once they went down. Just rolled over. He is also the offensive play caller. He has one of the best quarterbacks in the country and refuses to let him stretch the field. Every drive with Ryan Day calling the plays starts with a screen play that goes no where on first or second down, which then puts us behind the chains and in a tough spot to pick up first downs. Defensively, Ryan Day did NOTHING to force defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to make adjustments. Continuously playing both safeties close to the line of scrimmage and pressing the wide receivers with the corners. The explanation for this was to "stop the run". Their Heisman candidate running back, Blake Corum, didn't even play outside of the first drive. So instead of "stopping the run", all these two coaches did was allow multiple 60+ yard touchdowns through the air! So FUCK Ryan Day.
If I was Ryan Day before the start of the 2022 season, I would have simply taken the same approach LSU did in 2019. Especially since we knew stud RB TreVeyon Henderson was riddled with injuries, and the passing game would be our strong suit. I would have relinquished play calling duties to Brian Hartline, have him act as a Joe Brady. Basically call plays as the passing game coordinator. He's the best wide receivers coach in the nation, and has a great relationship with CJ Stroud. Trust the weapons you have in Marvin Harrison Jr, Emeka Egbuka, JSN pre-injury, Julian Fleming, and Cade Stover. And instill confidence in CJ Stroud who is one of the smartest and most talented QBs in the nation.
But no, keep doing the same shit over and over again.
No Ohio State coach should have the leniency to lose TWO years in a row to Michigan, get blown out in a Natty, and miss the playoffs two years in a row. I am aware they still have a shot to get in if TCU or USC loses, but at this point I don't want to see this team play another game until Ryan Day is banished from the state of Ohio.
Thanks for wasting another season Ryan Day, begone from me.
