Top Ten Schools Where it Would be the Coolest to be a Sick QB1

Listen, we all know the feeling. When a quarterback prospect emerges in first round mock drafts and you see what college they go to and think, "Hey, pretty cool that college is producing an NFL quarterback."

I can pinpoint this feeling to Tua before it was a regular thing for Alabama to have, allegedly, generational quarterback prospects. Justin Herbert out of Oregon (Wasn't cool when it was Mariota though cause early 2010's Oregon was fuckin annoying.) Similar to that was Trey Lance playing at North Dakota State being cool, but Carson Wentz is the least cool person in the world so it definitely wasn't cool when he got drafted second out of there.

Quick disclaimer: It's impossible to be a cool quarterback at any Big Ten school and definitely impossible at Notre Dame. Also, if a quarterback is from California or Florida they are automatically cooler. The opposite sentiment for a QB from Texas or Tennessee.

10: Washington State

Worth noting that this would be higher if Mike Leach was still there and, definitely, I could care less about Wazzu these days. There was certainly a time though where the man who took snaps in Pullman was a shoe in for the nation's passing leader every year. Gardner Minshew is all the evidence I need. Quarterbacks under Mike Leach at Mississippi State are definitely not cool though. They just look weird and I feel like they're always #7.

9: West Virginia

It was so cool that Will Grier was good at WVU that people actually thought he might win the Heisman his senior year. I watched almost every game Will Grier played and was in attendance for his WVU debut against Virginia Tech at Fed Ex. I have never seen him throw a spiral.

8: Boston College

Believe it or not, there was a time when people thought Matt Ryan was cool. It was when he was slinging the rock at BC. He's even remained cool in the revisionist history of the 2007 college football season. As a Falcons' fan, that is the biggest accomplishment of his career.

7: Harvard

Sure Ryan Fitzpatrick is really the only relevant one, but it is definitely the coolest thing about him. If another QB got drafted out of Harvard I'm sure he would only get Fitz comps, even if they played nothing alike.

6: Auburn

Jarrett Stidham when Auburn was almost a two loss playoff team, Cam Newton winning a Heisman in the midst of the second funniest cfb scandal of the 2010s (Yes Manti Teo is the first) and Bo Nix. Say what you will about any of those guys, they're all electric.

5: Houston

Can't explain this one it's just cool. Also, TCU and Houston are the only cool Texas schools you can play quarterback at. Sam Ehlinger and Bryce Petty did no favors for Texas and Baylor.

4: Hawaii

I can explain this one but I don't need to. If you don't understand why it's this high you probably didn't read this article cause you think it's dumb.

3: Tie - Stanford, California, UCLA

California quarterbacks are cool. So cool people were convinced Jared Goff was the first overall pick once upon a time. Other quarterbacks from these schools include Andrew Luck, Kevin Hogan, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Rosen, and DTR. I'm a fuckin Rosen ride or die what can I say.

2: Any school that employed Lane Kiffin (BESIDES TENNESEE)

Ole Miss is easily the coolest school you can be a good quarterback in college. They all lose their likability after they leave, but for now Matt Corrall punched Wayne Gretzky's grandson. And that is sick. Fuck hockey. I can't wait to see how he ruins his reputation a year from now. USC is definitely a cool school to be good at despite every good USC quarterback being the opposite of cool, Pete Carroll's fault. Something cool about FAU too.*

1: The NFL

Only thing cooler than being a good quarterback at any of these colleges is not being a bust @Trevorlawrencee.

* - Unless you punched a woman in a bar during your time at Florida State, transferred to play at a college featured on a then popular Netflix series and then to FAU. Definitely not cool!
